Abstract

Preeclampsia is a complicating factor of pregnancy and it's considered as onc of the most causes for maternal even perinatal mortality and mordibitv. Besides its bad effect for maternal and perinatal outeome it could also effect the lenght of stay in hospital. This study aims to determine maternal and perinatal outeomes also lenght of stay for severe preeclampsia patients at Departmen of Obstetrv and Gynecology Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang from 2010-2012. This was deseriptive analytic study with cross sectional design by collecting secondary data from medical record of severe preeclampsia patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. There were 184 samplcs out of 1288 severe preeclampsia patients. Data were processed and analyzed using bivariate analysis with chi-square test. The maternal outeomes cases consisted of 4 cases (2,2%) of heart failure, 6 cases (3,3%) of partial HELLP syndrome, 2 cases (1,1%) of HELLP syndrome, 14 cases (7,6%) of eclampsia, 2 cases (1,1%) of impending eclampsia, 2 cases (1,1%) of placcnta previa, 2 cases (1,1%) of antepartum haemorrhage, and 2 cases (1,1%) of postpartum haemorrhage. The perinatal outeomes cases consisted of 3 cases (1,6%) of fctal distress. 8 cases (4,3%) of oligohidramnion, l casc (0,5%) of intrapartum infeetion, 3 cases (1,6%) of mild asphyxia, 9 cases (4,9%) of severe asphyxia, 36 cases (19,6%) of low birth weight, 6 cases (3,3%) of very low birth wcight. 1 casc (0,5%) of extremely low birth weight, and 10 cases (5,4%) of perinatal dcath. Lcss than 5 davs lenght of stay consist of 129 patients while 5 days and longer lenght of stay consist of 55 patients. There was corrclation bctwccn maternal outeomes and the lenght of stay in hospital (P-0,000 CM-5,219). This deseriptive study showed that eclampsia and low birth weight were the most common complication. Maternal outeomes determinant factor of lenght of stay in hospital.
