Abstract

Lightweight Concrete merupakan salah satu bahan struktural yang memiliki berat jenis maksimal sebesar 1900 kg/m3 jauh lebih ringan dibandingkan dengan beton konvensional. Pada penelitian ini, pembuatan lightweight concrete dibuat dengan menambahkan foaming agent, expanded polystyrene dan polypropylene waved fiber. Dengan penambahan foaming agent kedalam campuran beton terbukti dapat mampu mengurangi berat jenis pada beton tersebut. Expanded polystyrene berperan sebagai pengganti aggregat, dengan adanya expanded polystyrene ini daya serap air menjadi sangat kecil. Komposisi lightweight concrete ini terdiri dari semen jenis Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), expanded polystyrene, air, foam agent, dan polypropylene waved fiber. Pada penelitian ini variasi yang digunakan yaitu rasio semen dan expanded polystyrene sebesar 1:2,75, 1:2,50 dan 1:2,25. Penelitian ini terfokuskan pada pengujian sorptivity dengan penambahan polypropylene waved fiber yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kenaikkan massa penyerapan air kedalam lightweight expanded polystyrene concrete dengan penambahan serat polypropylene waved fiber.
