Abstract

Muara Musi merupakan perairan yang mengalami proses sedimentasi cukup tinggi karena menjadi muara berbagai sungai yang membawa material sedimen. Pengendapan sedimen yang terjadi akan berpengaruh terhadap banyak aspek di lingkungan sekitar Muara Sungai Musi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis karakteristik sedimen, laju pengendapan sedimen dan hubungannya dengan arus dan pasang surut yang terjadi di Muara Sungai Musi. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Agustus – September 2022 meliputi pengukuran parameter hidrooseanografi seperti arus, pasang surut dan laju sedimentasi serta analisis sampel sedimen di laboratorium. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kecepatan arus rata-rata di Muara Sungai Musi sebesar 0,609 m/s, Karakteristik sedimen di Muara Sungai Musi didominasi oleh substrat lempung atau clay yang berasal dari masukan sungai atau daratan. Tipe pasang surut di Muara Sungai Musi adalah tipe pasang surut harian tunggal (diurnal tide) dengan rata-rata bilangan formzahl sebesar 4,49. Laju sedimentasi rata-rata yang terdapat di Muara Sungai Musi adalah 1,32-1,39 gr/m3/hari, laju pengendapan tertinggi terjadi di stasiun 5 yang berada tepat di percabangan sungai menuju ke muara sungai. Sedangkan laju pengendapan terendah di stasiun 4, yang berada di sekitar Pulau Payung yang berhadapan langsung dengan Selat Bangka yang dipengaruhi langsung oleh adanya arus laut.
