Abstract

This study examines the communication strategies used by DPPKB Musi Rawas in preventing and reducing stunting in Muara Beliti District. The theoryused is the theory of communication strategy Onong Uchajana Effendy. Research design combines quantitative data through surveys with questionnaires and qualitative data with interviews and documents. Quantitative data processing with SPSS and qualitative data processing by analyzing emerging themes and patterns. Quantitative data analysis with frequency and cross-tabulation, while qualitative data by comparing information from respondents and documents. Hasil research shows respondents in quantitative research have middle to lower socioeconomic status. The majority of kitchen expenses per month are Rp.1000,000.00 and below. Mothers with the first age of marriage are still many at the age of 19 and there are also those who marry aged 18, 17, 16 and even 15 and 14 years. The majority of the wife's work is housewife. Farmer's husband and day laborer. The majority of them know the meaning of stunting, from Posyandu, PLKB and Bides. The media they choose is directly through Bides, PLKB and Posyandu cadres. Their choice is direct communication, meeting, face- to-face at their Posyandu village and their home. This is suspected that in one family there is only one cellphone. So the role of the communicator is very important in this case is the Assistance Team consisting of members of the PKK, Bides and PLKB as well as Posyandu cadres. For PLKB they in delivering messages are already with tools, scales measuring instruments, mats and guides. However, the effectiveness of messaging has not been the main study. Training is still a lot about the content or material. In addition to having the ability to master the material, communicators must also be trained to understand the cultural customs of the local community, the ability to speak in public and be able to translate material in the form of digital messages into social media that is easy for the public to understand.
