Abstract

This study aimed to describe the obstacles experienced by parents in disciplining their children against using gadgets in Sukajadi village, especially. The study used descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data collection was done by interview and observation. The subjects of this study were seven people, namely parents that had children who are still attending elementary school. The results of the study showed that the obstacles experienced by parents come from internal and external barriers. Internal barriers were influenced by the lack of parental knowledge of learning media, parents’ time in helping children to study, and the parents’ assumption that children can learn independently. And external barriers were influenced by peer relationships and the environment which made parents perceive that gadget are really needed by elementary school children. The gadget also made children discipline towards homework, and school activities became irregular. Communication and corporation between parents about the rules in the house not going well so its also become obstacle
