Abstract

The air of this study is determining whether there is a role of gratitude andsocial support on subjective well being among adolescents living in orphanages. Thisstudy hypothesizes that there is a role of gratitude and social support on subjectivewell being among adolescents living in orphanages. The participants of this stucy are 171 adolescents living in orphanages in Palembangcity. Sampling in this study using purposive sampling technique. The studymeasurements are subjective well being modification raw scale by Diener, gratitude scale that refers to aspects fromMccullough, Emmons, and Tsang (2002), and social support scale that refers to aspects fromSarafino and Smith (2011). The data analysis that has been carried out by this researcher uses multipleregression techniques. From the results of the analysis, the data shows that the Rsquare value between gratitude and social support simultaneously onsubjectivewell being is 0,309 and the significance valueis 0.000 (p <0.05). This shows that gratitude and social support have asignificant role simultaneously on subjectivewell being, This shows that the hypothesisproposed in this study can be accepted.
