Abstract
Blood vessels dysfunction in essensial hypertension may caused the destruclion of periodontal lissues then serve to trigger periodontitis. The purpose of this research is to provide the correlation of essential hypertension with incidencies and severity level of periodontitis. The method of this research is an analytic survey through cross sectional approach. Samples is taken by 41 responders who underwent to clinic of hypertension ’s day. To asses periodontal condition, w e use the russell ’s index with WHO periodontal probe. In addition, the data are analyzed by Chi-Square test with Yates correction. There are significant differences in between of subjects with and without hypertensive. Subject with hypertensive (97,6%) have higher incidences of periodontitis than subject without hypertensive ones (60%). The prevalences ratio is 1,6. There are also significant association about severity level of periodontitis in many subjects with hypertension. Level 1 hypertensive subjects with moderate periodontitis having 80% incidencies. While level 2 hypertensive subjects with severe periodontitis (66,7%) have higher incidencies than moderate periodontitis (33,3%). In conclusion, there is significant correlation between essential hypertension for over five years without systemic disease or medication by nifediphine, with periodontitis incidencies. An increasing blood pressure of essential hypertension determined the severity level of periodontitis.
