Abstract

PT Bara Manunggal Sakti is one of the mining companies operating in the South Sumatra region. Extraction of coal from coal is often not in accordance with the previously intended recovery, and coal losses are shown during the mining process using open pit mining techniques. Therefore, not all available reserves can be obtained and used, which will inevitably result in losses for the company. The purpose of this study is to determine the amount of coal losses in coal getting operations at PT Bara Manunggal Sakti, examine the causes of coal losses, and identify the steps used to reduce coal losses. Data processing and analysis was carried out using truck counts and scales, the data that had beed collected through data collection in the form of primary and secondary data were then combined and prossed using Microsoft Excel. The factors that cause coal losses are loading exceeding vessel capacity, falling coal along the haul road due to poor roads, and poor performance from operators and drivers. Efforts to minimize the occurrence of coal losses are loading of coal not exceeding vessel capacity, repairing haul roads, as well as training and supervision of operators and drivers.
