Abstract

The sugarcane litter is a waste product of sugarcane harvest on field consisting of leaves, stems, and remaining sugarcane roots. PTPN VII Cinta Manis Sugarcane Estate have applied the application of fertilizer Urea with a dose of 5 kg/ha but the condition of the field has not been able to accelerate the process of litter decomposition, therefore there is the potential to apply a larger dose of urea to accelerate decomposition become more maximal. This study aims to evaluate and compare several doses of urea application in sugar cane litter to the availability of Nitrogen in accelerating the decomposition process. This research was carried out on the plot of 07 Rayon 3, PTPN VII Cinta Manis Sugarcane Estate in Village of Ketiau, Lubuk Keliat District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. The research was arranged in a Split Plot in time consisting of 4 main plots, 6 subplots, 3 replications and soil sampling at a depth of 30 cm which analysis of covariants (ANCOVA) by observing C-Organic, N-Total and C/N ratio. The litter decomposition rate is calculated by changing the initial conditions of the study with each week of observation so that the graph of the decomposition rate is obtained. The highest decomposition rate was found in treatment P5 with a dose of 10 kg / ha which decreases the CN Ratio of litter to 20.98 and is followed by the highest increase in N-Total is found in treatment P5 a dose of 10 kg / ha with a level of 0.18%. The highest decrease in C-Organic was found in the treatment of P3 a dose of 6 kg /ha with levels of 13.78%.
