Abstract

Background. Vitiligo is a chronic skin disease characterized by depigmentation as a clinical manifestation due to loss of melanocytes. The objective of this study was to determine the profile of vitiligo patients in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang during the period of 2019-2021. Method. This study was a descriptive study with a cross-sectional study design. The research was conducted at the Medical Record Installation and the Dermatology and Venerology Polyclinic at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from July to December 2022. This study used secondary data in the form of patient medical records which were analyzed descriptively. Results. Out of a total of 11 samples, 62.5% of the samples were female, 36.4% of the samples were in the 21-30 year age group, 63.6% of the samples came from Palembang City, 36.3% of the samples were students and 18.2% the sample is a civil servant. 90.9% of samples experienced onset >2 months before being diagnosed with vitiligo, 38.5% of all vitiligo lesion locations were the head and neck, 72.7% of samples experienced nonsegmental vitiligo, 100% of samples experienced lesions of <20% and have no history of disease. Patients who received combination therapy were 63.6%. As much as 20.83% of the therapy given was in the form of topical corticosteroids and 20.83% in the form of NB-UVB phototherapy. Conclusion. The majority of vitiligo patients were female. The age group that most often experiences vitiligo is the age group 21-30 years. Most of the patients came from Palembang City and majority of them were students. Most patients experienced onset of > 2 months. The most common locations for vitiligo are the head and neck. The most common type of vitiligo is the nonsegmental type with the most common lesion area is less than 20% of total body surface area. None of the patients had a history of vitiligo or autoimmune disease. Most patients received combination therapy compared to monotherapy, with topical corticosteroids and/or NB-UVB phototherapy most frequently being given.
