Abstract

Odontectomy is taking the teeth with surgical procedures with removal of mucoperiosteal Jlap and discard the existing bone over the tooth and bone around the cervical roots with chisels, burs, or rongeurs. The absence of research about the prevalence of canines impacted odontectomy in South Sumatra, then conducted a descriptive epidemiological study about the prevalence of canines impacted odontectomy in South Sumatra, especially in The Dental Polyclinic dr. A.K. Gani Hospital in P alembang in order to determine the prevalence of impacted canines who gets odontectomy procedures in a few years ago. This study is a descriptive survey study that using purposive sampling technique. The samples in this study were all patients who had impacted canine that got odontectomy treatment in The Dental Polyclinic dr. A. K. Gani Hospital in Palembang and recorded in the medical record and register book in period of April 2009-March 2014. x The resulls showed that the number of impacled canines odontectomy patienls amounl of 69 patients is 0.18% of the 38180 patients who came for treatment to The Dental Polyclinic dr. A. K. Gani Hospital in Palembang period of April 2009-March 2014. Prevalence of impacted canines odontectomy by age are mostly done at <20 years old for 23 patients (33.33%), the prevalence of impacted canines odontectomy by gender is more happened in women than men, 42 patients (60.87%) and the prevalence of impacted canines odontectomy by region is the most prevalent in the maxilla compared to the mandible of 60 patients (86.96%).
