Abstract

The experimental results of hydrodynamic journal bearing performance such as oil flowrate, temperature distribution around the bearing, and journal temperature are discussed in this paper. The specification of this bearing is as follows; b/d = 0.5 and 0.1; cd/d = 0.001 and 0.002; bo/b = 0.8. The rotational speed and maximum load is 8000 rpm and 9.43 kN respectively, and supply pressure = 2.5 bar. Under fixed journal condition it shows that the oil flowrate is proportional with supply pressure, and under moving journal, the total oil flow increase with the increased of rotational speed, clearance ratio and also increase linearly with supply pressure. At constant speed, journal and bearing temperature increase with the increased of various loads. Generally, temperatures around the bearing in both convergen and divergen region increase and roughly constant, respectively.
