Abstract

BAJA ST 41 ADALAH BAJA KARBON RENDAH YANG DISEBUT JUGA BAJA LUNAK, BAJA INI MEMILIKI KANDUNGAN KARBON SEBESAR 0,08% - 0,20%. MATERIAL INI BANYAK SEKALI DIGUNAKAN UNTUK PEMBUATAN BAJA BATANGAN, TANGKI, PERKAPALAN, JEMBATAN, MENARA, PESAWAT ANGKAT DAN DALAM PERMESINAN. TUJUAN PENELITIAN INI UNTUK MENGETAHUI PENGARUH SUHU DALAM PROSES HARDENING PADA STRUKTUR MIKRO PERMUKAAN BAJA KARBON RENDAH DAN UNTUK MENGETAHUI PENGARUH SUHU DALAM PROSES HARDENING PADA TINGKAT KEKERASAN BAJA KARBON RENDAH. JENIS PENELITIAN ADALAH PENELITIAN EKSPERIMEN MURNI. SPESIMEN PENELITIAN INI MEMILIKI UKURAN DENGAN DIAMETER 20 MM DAN PANJANG 50 MM. SPESIMEN INI MELALUI PROSES HEAT TREATMENT HARDENING DENGAN VARIASI SUHU, 750ºC, 800ºC, DAN 850ºC, SETELAH ITU SPESIMEN DILAKUKAN PROSES UJI KEKERASAN ROCKWELL DAN BERLANJUT KE PROSES UJI STRUKTUR MIKRO. HASIL PENELITIAN DARI PROSES UJI KEKERASAN DIPEROLEH NILAI KEKERASAN SEBESAR 56 HRC DAN UNTUK NILAI YANG TERKECIL 51,6 HRC. KEMUDIAN UNTUK HASIL DARI UJI STRUKTUR MIKRO DIPEROLEH HASIL STRUKTUR YANG LEBIH DOMINAN FERIT DAN MARTENSIT.
