Abstract
This research is a descriptive research that aims to describe the ability of students to solve the problem of story question by applying cooperative learning type CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) on rectangular material. The subjects of this research are students grade VII.1 SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya Selatan which amounted to 27 students. The data collection technique used is a tes of the research, its is found that cooperative learning type CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) to see students ability is generally categorized enough with the average value 52,82. The result of the study also shows the percentage of the number of students who can meet each indicators of the completion of the story. Indicators to understand the problem obtained percentage of 74,4%, the indicators plan the completion of story of 87,2%, the percentage of indicators to solve the problem of the story of 65,4%, and the indicators to check back 28,2% .
