Abstract
This studyanalyzesthe relationship between the number of tourists, tourisminvestment, government tourism spending, and economic growthinSouthSumatra.It usesGranger causality model and simultaneous equation modeltoestimatethe empirical model. The findingsshow thatthe number of tourists, theadded value of the tourism sector, and the tourism spendingof the tourism sectoraffecteconomic growth, while tourism investment does not affect the economicgrowth. In the second model, this study found that economic growth, tourismadded value, tourism, and government tourism spending affect the number oftourists. This study implies that government policy has an important role inencouraging the tourism sectordevelopmentwhich is indicatedthecontributionthis sectoroneconomic growth
