Abstract

PT Tonia Mitra Sejahtera is a privately owned nickel ore mining company with a Production Operation Mining Business Permit Area of 5,891 Ha. PT Tonia Mitra Sejahtera conducts mining activities using the open pit mining method. PT Tonia Mitra Sejahtera carries out mining process activities using a series of loading and hauling equipment. The nickel ore excavation activity uses one unit of CAT PC 330 backhoe excavator and eight units of Hino 500 FM 260 JD dump trucks. In February 2022 the nickel ore production target is 125,337 tons of ore. The production capacity of the transportation equipment is 93,746 tons of ore. This means that nickel ore production in February 2022 has not met the production target with a production achievement of 74.79%. The purpose of this research is to optimize the productivity of the digging and hauling equipment to meet the nickel ore production target. Once identified, the cause of the problem is the high cycle time of hauling time, the lack of payload, and the small number of effective working times. After collecting primary and secondary data, data processing and analysis can be carried out. The improvement strategy is obtained based on an analysis of some of the causes of the problems that occur, namely paying attention to the condition of the hauling road which is considered to greatly affect the cycle time of the conveyance. The filling of the material into the conveyance vessel must be increased, by maximizing the digging or it is called the fill factor when excavating the material. The results of the analysis also found that the work done by the mechanical device was not optimal. This improvement was made to increase the effective working time carried out by mechanical devices so as to eliminate wasted time. By reducing the circulation time, improving the payload, and increasing work efficiency, the production target in March 2022 of 155,195 tons of ore can be achieved.
