Abstract

Rice plants is an important agricultural crop in Indonesia and its production is quite high. However, Indonesia has never been absent from importing rice. If imports are carried out continuously, it will have an impact on the weakening of the value of the domestic currency and have an impact on decreasing income, therefore a method is needed to predict rice production. One method that can be used for prediction is the Fuzzy Time Series. However, the Fuzzy Time Series method still has a weakness in the value of the data range that is too far away, so a method is needed that aims to optimize intervals. One optimization method that can be used is Elephant Herding Optimization. This research will use Fuzzy Time Series Lee and Elephant Herding Optimization methods to predict rice production data in Indonesia in the range of 1993 -2022 with a total of 30 data. The data was obtained from the official website of the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS). The test results on the Elephant Herding Optimization parameter showed that the best parameter values were 3 clans and 12 elephants. The results of the optimized method produce an MAPE of 7.76087% greater than the error from Fuzzy Time Series without optimization with an MAPE of 4.32740%. These results prove that the Fuzzy Time Series Lee method optimized with Elephant Herding Optimization is still not optimal for predicting rice production data.
