Abstract
Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and carbon monoxide (CO) have been associated with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. Parking attendants are a risk group for exposure to NO2 and CO in Pasar Lemabang. This study aims to analyze the environmental health risks of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and carbon monoxide (CO) exposure to parking attendants in Lemabang Market, Palembang City. This study used the environmental health risk analysis (EHRA) method with a deterministic approach to the Central Tendency Exposure (CTE) scenario. The sample of this study amounted to 32 parking attendants obtained by total sampling. Data were collected by completing questionnaires and interviews and measuring NO2 with the Griess Saltzman method and CO with a CO meter. The results showed that the average concentration at 3 points for NO2 was 3.04 µg/Nm3 and CO was 8,405 µg/Nm3. The non-carcinogenic intake value for NO2 was 0.9728 µg/Nm3 and CO was 2,689.6 µg/Nm3. The risk level (RQ) for NO2 was 0,005 and CO was 0,07 where both exposures had RQ<1. This study concludes that parking attendants at the Lemabang market in Palembang City are not at risk of having non-carcinogenic health problems due to exposure to NO2 and CO. Suggestions for parking attendants to use PPE when working and monitoring measurements for related parties as an effort to reduce exposure
