Abstract

Penelitian tentang sintesis dan karakterisasi komposit bentonit/alumina/PEG 4000 sebagai adsorben zat warna procion merah MX 8B telah dilakukan. Komposit bentonit/alumina/PEG 4000 dikarakterisasi menggunakan XRD dan SEM-EDS. Karakterisasi XRD kompositbentonit/alumina/PEG 4000 memiliki puncak tertinggi (2θ = 26,69o dan 66,72o). Karakterisasi SEM-EDS komposit bentonit/alumina/PEG 4000 menunjukkan permukaan yang kasar, berlapis-lapis, heterogen dengan unsur penyusun C, O, Mg, Al, Si dan Fe. Pada permukaan komposit terdapat warna putih yang dihasilkan dari alumina yang menempel pada bentonit. Komposit bentonit/alumina/PEG 4000 memiliki nilai pHpzc pada pH 5,04. Kondisi optimum penyerapan zat warna procion merah MX 8B oleh komposit bentonit/alumina/PEG 4000 yaitu pada waktu kontak 50 menit dengan berat komposit 0,05 g. Isoterm adsorpsi komposit bentonit/alumina/PEG 4000 terhadap zat warna procion merah MX 8B memenuhi persamaan isoterm Langmuir dengan nilai regresi sebesar R2 = 0,891, Qm = 6,2500 (mg/g) dan Kl = 160 (mg/g) dan persamaan isoterm Freundlich dengan nilai regresi sebesar R2= 0,918, n = 0,9496 dan Kf = 6,1472 mg/g. Kata Kunci: Komposit bentonit/alumina/PEG 4000, bentonit teraktivasi, adsorpsi, zat warna procion merah MX 8B.
