Abstract

The operation of a three-phase induction motor uses a single-phase electric power source by using a capacitor that has a fast speed response, a problem that many electric motor users face is the efficiency of the electric motor which is still low and the electrical power factor is also low. The research is aimed at getting the right capacitor value to make a power factor correction. By installing run capacitors on a three-phase induction motor in parallel with testing the rotational load variation results in a power factor correction value that is close to the desired value. Based on research carried out load variations get the efficiency of active power corrected up to 61.4547% for using 15 µF run capacitors and corrected 41.0605% for using run capacitors 6 μF.
