Abstract

This research aimed to design a cow candy press tool so it is easy to use and is capable of printing lick cow candy with predetermined criteria. This research was conducted from November 2019 to February 2020 in the Workshop of Agricultural Workshop and Machinery, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This study consists of three stages, including: 1) the design approach stage consisting from a series of activities including determining design criteria, conceptual design, functional and structural design, 2) Stage of manufacture and assembly, 3) Stage structural, functional design and performance testing. Candy press Lick cows are designed with a concept that includes the design of the concept control handle press (hand press regulator), the concept of thread rotation, and the concept of the shape of the mold. Screw used is suitable for pressing lime cow candy because of its weight acceptable capacity is 5,482.15 kg, while the maximum load recorded for pressing is 248.37 kg. The working capacity of the tool to carry out operations the average pressing is 10.195 kg / hour. Material pressing efficiency using a licking cow candy press is an average of 99.7%. Power requirements the average needed to rotate the control handle press is 29.61 Watt. The value of the pressure received by the material will increase as the amount increases given round. Initial pressure measured on the control handle press putran is 3.01 MPa, while the measured value at the final round is 74.85 MPa.
