Abstract

A research on submicro Moringa leaf extract (Moringaoleifera Lamk.) particles has been carried out using PLGA (poly lactic-co-glycolic acid) polymers and variations in PVA stabilizer concentrations (poly (vynil alcohol). PVA concentrations used in formulas 1, 2 and 3 were 40 mg, 50 mg and 60 mg respectively. The research process began by extracting Moringa leaf (Moringa oleifera Lamk.) using maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. The compounds contained in the ethanol extract of Moringa leaves are flavonoid, phenolic, saponin, tannin and triterpenoid. Submicro particle manufacturing was done using the emulsion solvent evaporation method with a combination of PLGA and PVA to produce submicro particles that have strong bonds. This strong bond will increase the activity, efficiency and safety of the drug. From the determination of percent encapsulation efficiency (% EE), the best results from the three formulas was found in formula two, that was 90,10. The optimal concentration of PVA is known to be able to maintain the absorption of Moringa leaf extract in the polymer so that it has ability to increase the percent of EE. The results of particle characterization analysis using PSA tools include diameter, PDI (poly dispersity index) and zeta optimum potential formula, each of which produced 205.2 nm; 0.255; and -1.0 mV. The measurement of the optimum formula pH for 6 cycles (days) showed no significant increase in pH, but was still within the expected range.
