Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of using inoculant various types on Hymenachne acutigluma silage towards in vitro digestibility. This research was conducted from August until November 2019 at the Nutrition and Feed Laboratory, Department of Livestock and Industry Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The method used of this research is Completely Randomly Designed (CRD) with 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments consisted of P0: Hymenachne acutigluma without additional inoculants (control), P1: Hymenachne acutigluma + 3% EM-4, P2: Hymenachne acutigluma + 3% rumen fluid, and P3: Hymenachne acutigluma + 3% fermented rice washing water. The parameters observed were KCBK, KCBO, total VFA concentration, and N-NH3 concentration. The results showed that using inoculant various types of Hymenachne acutigluma silage had a significant effect (P<0,05) on KCBK, KCBO, total VFA, and N-NH3. The inclusion of this research is silage of Hymenachne acutigluma that inoculated with 3% rumen fluid able to maintain the quality of silage and produced the best digestibility value in vitro compared to other treatments namely dry matter digestibility of 61.22%, organic matter digestibility of 61.52%, total VFA concentration of 121.26 mM along with N-NH3 concentration of 19.41 mM. Keywords: Inoculant, Silage, Hymenachne acutigluma, Digestibility, In Vitro.
