Abstract

Pre weaning calf has requirement of low crude fiber feeds. Fodder Green Hydroponic (FGH) of rice seeds was low crude fiber feeds due to its early crop. The aim of this study was to learn the pre weaning calf response of FGH based on its feeding behavior and palatability. This research was held on experimental farm of Animal Science Departement, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya from September to October 2020. FGH was harvested in 18 days and offered to 2 pre weaning calf with average body weight 20 kg. Observed parameters were palatability and feeding behavior frequencies (sniffing, licking and chewing). The obtained data were analyzed descriptively. The result showed that feeding behavior and palatability of FGH has positive response. Keywords : Feeding behavior, Fodder Green Hydroponic, Palatability, Pre weaning calf, Abstrak Pedet pra sapih masih membutuhkan pakan dengan kandungan serat kasar yang rendah. Fodder hidroponik gabah adalah pakan hijauan dengan kandungan serat kasar rendah karena diproduksi pada umur muda. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mempelajari respon pedet pra sapih terhadap FGH gabah padi berdasarkan perilaku konsumsi dan palatabilitas. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan September - Oktober 2020 di Laboratorium Kandang Percobaan Program Studi Peternakan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sriwijaya. FGH gabah dipanen pada umur 18 hari dan diberikan pada 2 ekor pedet pra sapih Sapi Bali dengan rataan bobot badan 20 kg. Peubah yang diamati dalam penelitian ini meliputi palatabilitas terhadap jenis pakan yang diberikan dan perilaku konsumsi yang terdiri dari frekuensi mengendus, frekuensi menjilat dan frekuensi mengunyah. Data yang diperoleh akan dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perilaku konsumsi pedet pra sapih dan palatabilitas pakan FGH gabah menunjukan respon yang positif.
