Abstract
Quartz sand is one of the minerals used to meet industrial needs. The content of quartz sand needed in the industry is quite varied, but in this research which focuses on the ceramic industry, SiO2 levels are needed above 95%. Willobi is a tool that functions to separate quartz sand from its impurity minerals by utilizing differences in density. Kalin's research is focused only on a few variables, namely water discharge and tool cross-sectional area which will influence the results of the study and consider the other variables to be constant. The variables used were water discharge of 19 l / minute, 23 l / minute, 30 l / minute, 35 l / minute and 40 l/minute and the cross-sectional area of the tool was 400 cm, 625 cm2 and 900 cm2. that the smaller the cross-sectional area of the water, the greater the concentrate content, while the smaller the recovery value. Meanwhile, the water discharge is inversely proportional to the cross-sectional area of the tool, where the greater the water flow, the lower the SiO2 level but the greater the recovery value. From research and experiments The results show that many experiments meet the Indonesian National Standard for the ceramic industry but the most optimal tool conditions are in the variable cross-sectional area of 400 cm2 with a water flow of 19 L / Min with a recovery of 92.60%.
