Abstract

The risk of an earthquake in Indonesia is very high. This is the basis for designing steel structures that take into account the impact of the earthquake. In this study, the support frame that will be discussed is the Concentrically Braced Frame (CBF) which provides significant resistance and rigidity. The 10-story building with 2 different models was analyzed using the ETABS 18 analysis program with the time history analysis method. The first model uses I 400 x 400 steel column profiles on floors 1-5, 350 x 350 profiles on 6-10 floors, and 350 x 175 profiles for beams. the second model modifies the entire profile of the first model which cannot withstand earthquake loads. The purpose of this study was to analyze the response of the structure and determine the profile that has optimum performance on the CBF system stiffener. The structural response using time history analysis produces 3 accelerograms, namely displacement against time, acceleration against time, and velocity to time. W10X68 is the most optimum brace profile found in the second model. In the second model, there is a reduction in floor drift of 17.274% for the x-direction and 34.091% for the y-direction, a reduction in the inter-floor drift of 12.361% for the x-direction and 33,479% for the y-direction, and a drift ratio reduction of 12.361% for the x-direction and 33,487 % for the y-direction
