Abstract

The objective this of the research was to study an optimal level supplementation of lactic acid bacteria on the performance of quail (Coturnix- colurnix japonica) at starter phase. It was held for 6 week at Field Laboratory of PS. NMT Animal Nutrition and Feed Agriculture Faculty, University of Sriwijaya. A Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments wich were P0 (control), P1 (suplementation 0,5 % lactic acid bacteria), P2 (suplementation 1 % lactic acid bacteria) and P3 (suplementation 1,5 % lactic acid bacteria), Each treatment was replicated 4 times. The parameters on this research were feed consumption, daily weight gain, feed convertion and carcass persentage. Data analyzed using Anova and difference between treatments was analyzed by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The result of research indicated that adding lactic acid bacteria in drinking water significantly influence daily weight gain (P<0,05). However, feed consumption, feed convertion and carcass persentage were significant. A 0,5% lactic acid bacteria supplementation give the best on the performance quail to starter phase. It was concluded that adding lactic acid bacteria can improve the performance of quail at starter phase.
