Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menentukan metode ekstraksi dan jenis pelarut tepat dalam menghasilkan komponen aktif daun gaharu yang optimal. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Kimia Hasil Pertanian Jurusan Teknologi Pertanian Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sriwijaya Indralaya pada bulan Agustus 2012 sampai dengan Juli 2013. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Faktorial dengan dua faktor perlakuan yaitu metode ektraksi (perlakuan A : metode ekstraksi soxhlet dan metode ekstraksi maserasi) dan jenis pelarut (perlakuan B : pelarut heksana, pelarut etil asetat, dan pelarut etanol). Masing-masing percobaan diulang sebanyak tiga kali. Parameter yang diamati meliputi rendemen, kadar air, kadar abu, total fenol, kadar tanin, dan uji antimikrobia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode ekstraksi berpengaruh nyata terhadap rendemen sedangkan jenis pelarut berpengaruh nyata terhadap rendemen dan total fenol tetapi berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap kadar tanin dan uji antimikrobia. Perlakuan terbaik yaitu perlakuan AiB2 (ekstraksi Soxhlet menggunakan pelarut etil asetat) dengan nilai rendemen (5,02%), total fenol (18,62mg/L), tanin (13,41%), antimikrobia Escherichia coli (4,67 mm) dan antimikrobia Staphylococcus aureus (6 mm).
