Abstract
This study aims to determine the physical quality of sugarcane tops silage with the addition of Effective microorganism 4. The research was conducted in August and September 2011 in cage experiments and the Laboratory of Animal Husbandry and Food Nutrition at the Laboratory of Chemistry and Microbiology Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya. This research used completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments used are: To=shoots Sugarcane without treatments (control), Tl=shoots cane+4% EM-4 (v/w), T2=shoots Sugarcane+6% EM-4 (v/w), T3=shoots Sugarcane+8% EM-4 (v/w), T4=shoots Sugarcane+10% EM-4 (v/w). Parameters observed are physical observations of temperature measurements and organoleptic test (flavour, color, and texture), pH, percentage of fungi, and the amount of lactic acid bacteria. Based on the research results can be concluded that increasing the dose Effective microorganism 4 treatment at doses of 10% can improve the physical quality of sugarcane tops silage.
