Abstract

At this time the smartphone market penetration continues to grow along with technological developments. Therefore, position detection in closed areas has become an important area of research. IPS or we can call it (Indoor Positioning System) is a technology that is used to place objects that are in the room. IPS uses wireless technology, one of which is a Wi - Fi signal emitted by several access points. The signal will be received by the receiver, then the intensity of the Wi-Fi signal received from the access point will be measured. The system will receive input from the receiver in the form of Wi - Fi signal strength which will then issue an output in the form of position coordinates from the receiver. This study will apply the Triangulation method by utilizing a Wi - fi signal based on an ESP 32 microcontroller. The data used is the RSSI value data received by the receiver from the access point. The results of the estimation of the position using the triangulation method of three test coordinates. In the estimation of the coordinates of receiver 1, an accuracy value of 61.2% is obtained. In the estimation of receiver 2 coordinates, an accuracy value of 40% is obtained. In the estimation of receiver coordinates 3, the accuracy value is -90%. From these results it can be concluded that the positioning system in the room applies the Triangulation method using on the ESP32 microcontroller is able to estimate the position of the coordinates of the receiver being quite well even though there are error conditions or errors in estimating the position of the receiver.
