Abstract
Background: RISKESDAS data in 2018 shows that out of 57.6% of dental and oral health problems in Indonesia, only 10.2% received treatment. One of the factors that influenced is economic factor. The presence of BPJS Kesehatan through the National Health Insurance can be a solution for every participant to receive all health services, including dental and oral health services. The COVID-19 pandemic that emerged in Indonesia affected dental and oral health services also impacted the number of dental practice visits. This study aims to see whether there is a relationship between the number of BPJS Health participants and the number of patient visits at independent dental practices during COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This type of research is a descriptive analysis that uses secondary data in the form of the number of BPJS participants and the number of patient visits in 2019-2021. The data was obtained from BPJS Health. Using the Pearson correlation test, this data will be used to see whether there is a relationship between the two variables. Results: Results of the Pearson correlation test showed there was a relationship between the number of BPJS participants and the number of patient visits at the dentist's practice (p <0.05) with a correlation value of 0.818. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the number of BPJS participants and the number of patient visits to independent dental practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.
