Abstract

Fingerprint image is one region of the biometric study that is usually used to get an identity from someone because its different physiological characteristic. Fingerprints image captured by the image acquisition device are often corrupted by noise, image degradation occurs. Methods are needed to reduce noise from fingerprint image. Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is used to divided image to be several part of different frequency in image signal so that each component can be studied at different resolution scales. By low and high filters then the image will be processed with fast data processing time and stabilizing information from original image data. Furthermore, for reduction noise from fingerprint image, Wiener filter is applied by using 3x3 kernel filter that is restore noise with reducing noise sensitivity in inversion filter to minimize mean square error between ideal image and restorated image. The final results with PSNR getting average results in 54 decibel (dB) from fingerprint image.
