Abstract

Blood meal is a livestock by-product waste that has the potential to be used as a protein source feed ingredient because it has a fairly high protein content. Measurement of feed quality with the use of fermented adsorbent blood meal can be seen from the value of nitrogen retention and determination of digestibility in vivo. Until now, no research has been conducted that examines nitrogen retention correlated with crude fiber consumption in goats fed rations of blood meal and fermented adsorbent in vivo. This study aims to determine the correlation between crude fiber consumption and nitrogen retention in goats fed rations of blood meal and fermented adsorbent in vivo. This research was conducted from August to November 2022 at the Experimental Cage of the Animal Science Study Program, Department of Animal Science Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Analysis of crude fiber and nitrogen retention was conducted at the Laboratory of Nutrition and Animal Feed, Animal Science Study Program, Department of Animal Science Technology and Industry, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The method used in this study is the RAL (Complete Randomized Design) method with 3 treatments and 3 repications, namely: P0 (0% Blood Meal Adsorption Fermentation), P1 (25% Blood Meal Adsorption Fermentation), P2 (50% Blood Meal Adsorption Fermentation). The results of this study showed results that were not significantly different (P>0.05) on crude fiber consumption with an average of 258.73-342.97 grams/head/day and nitrogen retention with an average of 11.61-17.12 grams/head/day. Based on the results of the correlation analysis were obtained that there was a positive correlation between crude fiber consumption and nitrogen retention with a correlation coefficient value of P0 0.996, P1 0,982 and P2 0,959.
