Abstract

Kandis acid is a plant that can be used as an acidifier to create an acidic atmosphere in the digestive tract and maintain microbial balance in the digestive tract. This study aims to study the effect of adding kandis acid extract on the proportion of digestive tract weight (small intestine and seca) of Peking ducks. This research was conducted from October to November 2022 which took plance at Experimental Animal Laboratory of the Animal Science Study Program, Department of Technology and Industrial Animal Sciece, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya. The method in this study was an experimental method using sixty four Peking ducks aged 10 weeks were divided into 4 treatments; R0 (Control), R1 (Diet + Kandis Acid Extract pH 2.3), R2 (Diet + Kandis Acid Extract pH 3.3), R3 (Diet + Kandis Acid Extract pH 4.3) and 4 repetitions. The Peking ducks were reared for 6 week with the treatments according. The data was tabulated and analyzed descriptive. The parameters observed in this study were the proportion of the weight of the small intestine (duodenum, jejunum, and ileum) and ceaca. The results showed that the addition of kandis acid extract (Garcinia xanthochymus) can increase the proportion of small intestine weight (duodenum, jejunum, and ileum) and ceaca. It is cocclusion that the addition of kandis acid extract on diet can increase the weight of the small intestine (duodenum, jejunum, and ileum) and ceaca.
