Abstract

Capture fisheries resources at Kuala Tungkal Fishing Port in Jambi Province have great potential to support the local economy. However, the long-term trend of fish resources is very important to be evaluated periodically. This study aims to analyze fisheries resources in 2017-2022, including fishing gear, types of fish landed, and utilization patterns of fisheries resources in Kuala Tungkal Port. Research data were obtained through interviews and secondary sources, which included information on the number, type, and frequency of fishing gear from 2017 to 2022. Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS, while the pattern of fish resource utilization was analyzed through Rich Picture analysis. The results showed that fisheries production consistently increased significantly (sig. p<0.05) from 2017 to 2021 to reach 468.78 tons of catch, but decreased by 100.29 tons in 2022. Bottom lampara and gill nets are the main fishing gear for local fishermen. A total of 65 species of fish were found, dominated by tuna, mackerel, and bilis. Meanwhile, the utilization of fish resources was identified to follow the cold chain rules, which include storage, processing, packaging, and transportation from the place of capture to the market or consumer.
