Abstract

Nutritional problems in children can be caused by non optimal nutritional intake, maternal knowledge and attitudes have an influence on PMBA practices and children's nutritional status. Providing nutrition education using PMBA discs is one of the efforts to improve maternal knowledge and attitudes. This study aims to determine the impact of PMBA discs on the knowledge and attitudes of mothers of under-five children in Tanjung Tambak Baru Village. This study is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental research design using a pre-test post-test with control group design. Sampling in this study used purposive sampling technique. The subjects in this study were 60 mothers who had children aged 0-24 months who would be divided into 30 mothers in the experimental group and 30 mothers in the control group. The results of the Wilcoxon Rank test statistical test in the experimental and control groups obtained a p-value of 0.000 on knowledge and attitude which means that there is an impact before and after being given education using disc media and powerpoint. The results of the Mann Whitney U Test statistical test on knowledge and attitude obtained a p-value of 0.000 which means that there are significant differences in maternal knowledge and attitudes regarding IYCF in the experimental group using disc media and the control group using powerpoint media. The results of this study are expected to be able to provide information to mothers in order to implement the practice of Infant and Young Child Feeding properly.
