Abstract
Continuous sharpening of pencils can cause pencils to run out quickly due to uncontrolled time to sharpen. This research aims to design automatic pencil sharpener hardware and software based on the length of time needed to knit pencils according to pencil diameters based on ATmega 328 microcontrollers. The timing is based on the brand of pencil with the same thickness level of 2B and based on five kinds of pencil graphite thickness levels namely 6H, 2H, F, 2B and 6B with the same pencil brand, Faber Castell for diameters of 1 mm to 7 mm. The larger the diameter of the pencil, the greater the time it takes to knit. The harder the concentration level of graphite pencil, the greater the time needed to knit.
