Abstract
Electrical energy has become the primary need of society for everyday use. By the law of the conservation of energy, electrical energy can be derived from other energy using a device called a transducer. A transducer is a device that can convert force, mechanical transfer or other energy into electrical energy. Piezoelectric is a material that will generate an electric field when pressure or mechanical deformation occurs in the material. Piezoelectric can convert mechanical force into electrical energy. Based on the function of the piezoelectric, the authors conducted research by converting sound waves into electrical energy with a piezoelectric made from PZT ( Publum Zirconate Titanate ) ceramic material with various diameters, namely 15mm, 20mm and 35mm. By using a parallel circuit and a diode bridge as a converter of AC current to DC current and using a capacitor as a voltage stabilizer that will be supplied to the LED as a circuit load. Based on the results of the analysis using sound intensity as a piezoelectric energy source, piezoelectric with a sound source gets the greatest voltage at 35mm in diameter and a sound intensity of 105 dB that is equal to 42.2 milliVolt and current 793,26 milli Ampere, so that the greatest power is 33.47557 milli Watt . Meanwhile, the sound energy source produces the smallest output at a sound intensity of 80 dB and a piezoelectric diameter of 15mm, which is equal to 2 milli Volt and 6.242 milli Ampere, so that it only produces a power of 0.0 1248 milli Watt att. This happens because the higher the vibration generated and the wider the surface area of the diameter of the piezoelectric, the higher the current and voltage generated. The output power value is directly proportional to the current and voltage generated in the prototype, the greater the intensity of a given sound source , the greater the electrical power that can be generated from the piezoelectric.
