Abstract

This research was aimed to study the workability and optimization of the results of soil reinforcement with a soil sieveing machine modification and adding the ground chopping equipments. This research was conducted in November 2018 until April 2019 at the Agriculture Technology Department’s Workshop, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The method used in this research was an experimental method with descriptive data presentation in the form of tables and graphs. The resulting data was the primary data resulting from measurements directly on the ground chopping device. The parameters observed were the calculation of electric motor power, power transmission, enumeration yield, effective capacity of sieving machine and fineness modulus. Parameters testing was carried out 5 times with the wieght of soil were 5 kg and 11% of moisture content level. The results showed that the lowest power amounted 196.4 W was able to sift and enumerate land with a maximum chunk size. The power lost due to the highest pulley efficiency amounted 1.5 W. The percentage of fineness fraction passed the highest sieveing by 10 mesh sieve amounted 70%. The highest effective sieveing capacity was 83.56 kg/hour which was affected by the testing time of 215.4 seconds. The average percentage of 5 mesh fineness modulus was 10.57% and the average modulus of 10 mesh fineness was 24.63%.
