Abstract

Turbinaria ornata (brown seaweed) has secondary metabolite compounds that have antioxidant activity. The purpose of this study was to analyze, isolate, purify, and calculate the potential of antioxidants by DPPH method and Gravity column chromatography fraction isolate from Turbinaria ornata seaweed extract with GC-MS test results that produce antioxidant secondary metabolite compounds. This research was carried out in December 2022 on Pahawang Island, Lampung Province. The results of this study showed that the antioxidant value of ethyl acetate solvent was 2.85 ppm, and the antioxidant value of the combined fraction of Gravity column chromatography has an activity ranging from 1.15 ppm-340.64 ppm classified as very strong and very weak. Analysis of GC-MS contains antioxidants in n-hexane extract has 15 compounds that have antioxidant activity and has 2 secondary metabolites, namely terpenoids and monoterpene and ethyl acetate extract has 3 compounds of antioxidant activity.
