Abstract

Several climatological factors can affect the efficiency produced by solar panels, one of which is the influence of air humidity in the environment. Air humidity is the concentration or content of water vapor in the air. Air humidity in the atmosphere affects the efficiency of sunlight that can be absorbed by solar panels. In this study, a system was designed using 50 Wp monocrystalline solar panels which aims to analyze how much influence air temperature and humidity have on the power and efficiency that can be produced by solar panels. The study was conducted using two monocrystalline solar panels with two placement positions, namely above the water surface and not above the water surface to see how much influence air temperature and humidity have on the power and efficiency produced. The results showed that solar panels with a placement position above the water surface produced power of 9.39 W and an efficiency of 3.11888%, compared to solar panels with a position not above the water surface only produced power of 8.3414 W and an efficiency of 2.77062%. On a panel with a position placed above the water surface produces slightly higher power and efficiency, this is because the influence of the water under the panel gives a cooling effect to the panel above. Based on the research conducted, the low panel temperature and humidity cause the output current, voltage, and power to increase.
