Abstract
Most of the total waste ends up being thrown directly into rivers with sources dominated by household waste. Dumping of waste into river also occurs on the riverbanks of Subdistrict 13 Ulu, Palembang City, where household waste management has not been effective based on the waste handling carried out. The purpose of this research is to analyze household waste management on the riverbanks of Subdistrict 13 Ulu, Palembang City. This study uses a qualitative method. The research informants consisted of one key informant and thirteen regular informants. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observation, and photo voice. Data validation uses source triangulation, data triangulation, and method triangulation. The research results show that no waste management policy has been implemented. Waste sorting and collection is only carried out by a handful of people, and no waste processing has been carried out. The community is active in waste cleaning activities, but there are no other initiatives for each stage of waste handling. The conclusion obtained is that household waste management on the riverbanks of Subdistrict 13 Ulu is not yet optimal. It is hoped that Kelurahan 13 Ulu Palembang will implement policies and education related to wasted management.
