Abstract

This research is a study using descriptive quantitative research methods. This research was conducted at SD Negeri 74 Palembang. The purpose of this study was to describe literacy and numeracy learning and teacher’s constraints in implementing literacy and numeracy learning at SD Negeri 74 Palembang. The data collection techniques used were interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results of this study can be concluded that SD Negeri 74 Palembang has implemented literacy and numeracy learning. The implementation of literacy learning is done by familiarizing students to read 10 to 15 minutes as well as reading material before learning begins, and conducting discussions about the text that has been read. The application of numeracy learning is carried out by asking questions related to numeracy and related to daily life, getting students used to memorizing multiplication and mathematical formulas that have been learned, and getting students used to working on literacy and numeracy-based problems. In the implementation of literacy and numeracy learning, there are still many obstacles experienced by teachers, namely the obstacles in linking subjects to literacy and numeracy learning with a percentage of 68%. Then, teacher’s constraints in delivering literacy and numeracy-based materials according to different student characteristics with a percentage of 76%. Teacher’s constraints in creating literacy and numeracy-based questions with a percentage of 76%. Teacher’s constraints in creating literacy and numeracy-based questions that must be adapted to the characteristics of students with a percentage of 72%. Then the teacher’s constraints in motivating student’s interest in learning literacy and numeracy with a percentage of 64%.
