Abstract

Midwifery Academy in Pagaralam is a planing dan designing to improve the quality of midwifery education so it generates obstetricians in Pagaralam and its surroundings. Moreover, it accommodates interest of young generation who want to go to college. This Midwifery Academy is equipped with suppoiting facilities such as hypno birthing laboratory, water birthing laboratory, student dormitories, and student centre. Meanwhile, local wisdom of Pagar Alam is still very strong, it can be used as a design concept, namely concept of contextual harmony of Pagar Alam City. The concept of Pagar Alam architecture is Besemah House. The characteristics of Besemah house are staging houses, a gable roof with middle rooftop is lower than the edges, the proportions of the building between the head; body; legs is 2: 1: 1. The construction of buildings are using a cantilever system, and the orientation of the building is facing the Dempo Mountain. So that the building can be functional and contextual to the environment.
