Abstract
The objective of this experiment was to study the growth of panili (Vanilla planifolia Andr.) axillary branch with several nodes level and BAP concentrations on MS medium by in vitro culture. The experiment was conducted at Tissue Culture Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, from December 2005 to March 2006. The experiment was Randomized Completely Design arranged factorially with two factors of treatment and three replications. The first factor was nodes level, N1 = fourth nodes, N2 = fifth nodes, and N3 = sixth nodes and the second factor was BAP concentrations, BI = 2 ppm, B2 = 4 ppm, B3 = 6 ppm, and B4 = 8 ppm. The result showed that nodes level respons to the increased concentration BAP from 2 ppm to 8 ppm not maximal to induced axillary branch growth. The fourth nodes gave the best result for explants live percentage, shoot height, root length and shoot explant percentage.
