Abstract
The main purpose of this rescarch was to know efectivity conoentration of the garlic (A. sativum) extract to care A. hidrophylla bacteria that infected Pangasius hypophthalmus with submersion of to increase its survival rate. This research was done on February to April 2007, at Microbiology Laboratory of Biology Department Mathematic and Natural Science Faculty, and LDB Aquaculture Engineering and Technology of Fishery Studv Programe Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This research used Completely Randomised Dcsign (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The concentration of the garlic extract (A. sativum) that used were 0 % (control), 0.2 %, 0.4 %, 0.6 %, 0.8 %. The parameters inspected include survival rate of fish that infected, the fish survival rate had been treatment with garlic extract (A. sativum), Relative Percent Survival (RPS), clinical symptom and water qua!ity. The high percentation survival rate include in treatments A4 (concentration 0.8 %) with average value 66.66 %. The best concentration of garlic extract (A. sativum) that can heal the fish until > 50 % (RPS value) ffom totally sample of fish ware treatments A4 (concentration 0.8 %), A3 (concentration 0.6 %), and A2 (concentration 0.4 %). The clinical symptom after cure and care as long as fourteen days indicated in control (without garlic extract (A. sativum)) has been found hard demage bodies organ and the mortality fish effect, but in treatments Al (concentration 0.2 %), A2(concentration 0.4 %), A3 (concentration 0.6 %), and A4 (concentration 0.8 %) rccover after submergeded with garlic extract (A. sativum). The water quality parameters as iong as care fourteen days in each treatments revolve such as temperature (27 - 29 °C), pH (6), Disolved oxygen (5.24 - 6.87 mg/1), and Amonia (0.09 - 0.46 mg/1). Result of the research show that garlic extract (A. sativum) to cure the A. hidrophylla bacteria infeciion in Pangasius hipopthalmus until the concentration 0.8 % give significant effect to fish survival rate as long as care in fourteen days, RPS and clinical symptom fish.
