Abstract

The university laboratory is one of the supporting facilities that students can use to support learning activities. The risk of work accidents can also occur in the laboratory. Therefore, the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the laboratory must be applied. However, at Sriwijaya University itself, especially in the Civil Engineering Department does not yet have a standard Occupational Health and Safety Management System format. Therefore, research was conducted on the design of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System at the Laboratory of the Department of Civil Engineering, Sriwijaya University based on the Regulation of PER.05 / MEN / 1996 concerning Guidelines for the Application of Occupational Health and Safety Management System with the aim of compiling a design of Occupational Health and Safety Management System that can be applied to the Laboratory of the Department of Civil Engineering, Sriwijaya University in order to achieve a safe, effective, and productive laboratory environment. The research method used in this study is by making observations with a qualitative approach and questionnaires conducted with technicians and assistants of each laboratory in the Civil Engineering environment about awareness of the importance of implementing Occupational Health and Safety Management System in the laboratory. The results of the questionnaire data calculation show that technicians and laboratory assistants are aware of the importance of implementing SMK3 in the laboratory. Also obtained from observations is the recommendations for the design of Occupational Health and Safety Management System which can be applied to the Civil Engineering laboratory, Faculty of Engineering, Sriwijaya University.
