Abstract
The measurement of battery capacity is very necessary to ensure the continuity of electricity storage services from Solar Power Plants. In this research, a battery capacity measurement tool (Capacity Tester) was made. Then, sensor testing, discharge rate testing and battery capacity calculation were conducted. Sensor testing is conducted to determine the level of accuracy of the Capacity Tester measurement results, discharge rate testing is conducted to obtain the characteristics of the battery being tested and battery capacity calculation is conducted to determine the capacity of the battery after testing. Based on the research conducted on testing the Capacity Tester sensor, the error value of the voltage sensor is 0.13%, the current sensor is 1.85% and temperature sensor is 4.46%. In testing the battery discharge rate, the characteristics of discharge rate obtained at C20 and C10 decrease in voltage with quite stable time while at C3 and C1 tend to be unstable and fluctuating. The battery capacity obtained at C20 is 5.54 Ah, C10 is 5.07 Ah, C3 is 4.87 Ah and C1 is 4.60 Ah. The decrease in battery capacity is due to the long discharge rate time to reach the final battery voltage, the effect of room temperature and sulfation.
