Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out the production capability of IPB breeding’s papaya (papaya IPB) and papaya Talang on the ultisol soil. Study conducted from August 2009 until June 2010 in the village Sukasari subdistrict Sukarami, Palembang, South Sumatera, was applied by using Randomized completely Block Design with three replications. Nine varieties of papaya IPB and one varieties of papaya Talang were used. experimental plots. Each plot consisted of five plants. The results showed that production of papaya IPB on ultisol soil is not significantly different with the production of papaya Talang. Based on weight of fruit per plant, fruit girth, and sugar content, the best production was given by and There are 30 papaya IPB 9. It is suggested to do busther research in other to test the production of papaya IPB in other types of soil.
