Abstract
The golden period, referring to the first five years of a child's life, is the most crucial period of growth and development. This study aims to analyze the correlation between mother’s parenting patterns, father’s roles, and stunting incidents on the children’s development aged 24-59 months in the city of Palembang. This study is using a cross-sectional design with the sample of a families having toddlers aged 24-59 months residing in the city of Palembang that meet the criteria. The results of this study showed that there is significant correlation between mother’s parenting patterns and children’s development aged 24-59 months (p-value=0,000) PR:2,543, there is also a significant correlation between father’s roles and children’s development aged 24-59 months (p-value = 0,005) PR:1,773, and there is no significant correlation between stunting and the children’s development aged 24-59 months (p-value=0,262). The conclusion of this research shows that there is a correlation between mother’s parenting patterns and the father's role in the children’s development aged 24-59 months in Palembang and there is no correlation between the stunting incidents and the children’s development in the same age group. The researchers suggest an active collaboration between parents to monitor a child's development and suggest the healthcare professionals create public health programs involving the father's role in parenting.
